The Adhvaryu is the chief manual performer of the sacrifice, the "kartR" of ritual actions.

ZB 2.1.1 begins an extensive summary of his activities in the establishment of the fires, the Agnyaadhaana. This section also begins to weave the substitutional relation between the fires and the breaths, mentioned viz. context of the Agnihotra.

ZB 2.1.4.23 discusses the leading of a horse to the aahavaniiya and the significations of directions, the levels of the three worlds.

ZB 2.2.3.18 includes the call and response with the aagniidhra.

ZB 2.2.3.21 has the adhvaryu directing the commencement of the hotR 's recitations.
